6 Books I'm Thankful For...

Personally, 2016 has been a struggle, but I am definitely thankful for books that helped get through difficult episodes of my life. This year I am thankful for these books for giving me hope, for giving another perspective, for giving inspiration when I needed it most. To all the authors, you have no idea how much I love your books, how I wish everyone I know would read it. Thank you for sharing your story. Keep on writing! Forever thankful for your books~

Where Am I Now? by Mara Wilson | Add to Goodreads |

For those of you that would say that this is just another book written by a celebrity, you are definitely wrong! I'm really not into memoirs, but Mara's book is so real and authentic. I feel her pain and struggles. Her stories are very relatable. I listened to the audiobook, but I got a paperback to love and hug. Thank you Mara for reminding me that I am not alone.

Adulthood Is a Myth by | Add to Goodreads |

THIS IS SUCH A CUTE GRAPHIC NOVEL! Every adult can definitely relate to this funny, but true scribbles about adult life.

It's totally hilarious. It's totally so me. Great book if you are in a reading slump and do not know what to read next. You will see yourself smiling and agreeing with Sarah's Scribbles. Don't miss this exceptional book. Must read!

Buffering by | Add to Goodreads |

Prior to reading the book, I don't follow Hannah Hart's Youtube and/or social media platforms. I read her book because she got nominated on the 2016 Goodreads Choice Awards. I did not know who to vote so I listened to her book first.

Her experiences were very relatable. And man, she can write! To those who doubted her back then, sorry, she's famous now. I hope she writes more books. Her memoir felt really raw and organic. Here you will see a genuinely honest Hannah sharing all her Hart.

The Bye-Bye Bouquet by | Add to Goodreads |
OMG! So much love for The Bye-Bye Bouquet! If you are feeling down, this feel-good book will definitely make you smile. It's short, but sweet romantic read. An excellent debut that will make you feel all the feels! 5/5

The Memory Book by | Add to Goodreads |

I admit I almost gave up on The Memory Book because I wasn't rooting for the main character and this guy, but then, it made sense in the end. So, I'm now crying happy tears for my ship! This book made me cry. I do not want to spoil anything so just go read this book. The main character has NPC and it's like Alzheimer's disease for younger people. She writes so she won't forget. Her narrative is very personal so you will definitely feel her struggles of slowly losing her memories. I told myself not to cry, but yeah, I couldn't help it. Lara Avery, what have you done to me?!   5/5

Penny in London by | Add to Goodreads |

I really loved Fisher Amelie's latest offering. Penny in London is a light and entertaining read. Just what I wanted and I needed. Nothing too heavy! A perfect summer read!

Penny in London made me smile and it reminded me on the important things in life. You only need your family and friends. Besides, what's meant to be, will be. If you are a fan of contemporary books, do not pass this up! This book is something you can read again and again.

Whether you need an awesome beach read or you just need a wonderful book on a rainy day, this is for you! Go buy and hug this book!

BLOG TOUR: The Infinity of You & Me by J.Q. Coyle (Interview)

When two highly talented writers team up to write a novel, magical universes appear. THE INFINITY OF YOU & ME (St. Martin’s Press; November 8, 2016) is no exception: written under the pen name J.Q. Coyle—composed of publishing veterans Julianna Baggott and Quinn Dalton. In the tradition of Baggott’s Pure trilogy, THE INFINITY OF YOU AND ME grounds a “multiverse” adventure in the very real world. Fast-paced with a tightly spun plot, this young adult novel will enthrall even the most reluctant readers.

What if every life-altering choice you made could split your world into infinite worlds?

Almost fifteen, Alicia is smart and funny with a deep connection to the poet Sylvia Plath, but she’s ultimately failing at life. With a laundry list of diagnoses, she hallucinates different worlds—strange, decaying, otherworldly yet undeniably real worlds that are completely unlike her own with her single mom and one true friend. In one particularly vivid hallucination, Alicia is drawn to a boy her own age named Jax who’s trapped in a dying universe. Days later, her long-lost father shows up at her birthday party, telling her that the hallucinations aren’t hallucinations, but real worlds; she and Jax are bound by a strange past and intertwining present. This leads her on a journey to find out who she is while trying to save the people and worlds she loves. J.Q. Coyle’s The Infinity of You & Me is a wild ride through unruly hearts and vivid worlds guaranteed to captivate.

The wonderful people at St. Martin's gave me a chance to interview the genius/es behind The Infinity of You & Me, J.Q. Coyle!

1. [Hello! Welcome to Carmel and Kyla, it's an honor to have you on the blog.] Anyway, your novel sounds really interesting. How did you come up with the idea?

  • I struck me that every time you make a major life decision, you full imagine both choices – as if they were real. What if in that moment of extreme decision-making pressure, both choices actually became real. This led me to quantum physics and alternate parallel universes and ultimately to a girl named Alicia who creates these other universes, falls for someone in another universe and has to save that world.
2. What was the best part of writing The Infinity of You and Me?

  • I really loved writing about Alicia and her best friend Hafeez. With some friendships you wonder if – in another set of circumstances – if you could be a couple. In this book, there are other sets of circumstances, other worlds with other choices. So I loved being able to play with that idea.
3. Why should readers read your book?

  • I think readers should read whatever the hell they want. But if they like a wild premise, an adventure with a little bit of love thrown in, I hope they pick up THE INFINITY OF YOU & ME.
Praise for The Infinity of You & Me!

A fantastically fun mind-bender from start to finish, THE INFINITY OF YOU & ME will thrill its readers and leave them hungry for more.”
