So, if you are interested to REVIEW books by Filipino authors, please let us know.
For August, the featured book is The First Time They Met by Ana Valenzuela.

The First Time They Met

Goodreads Synopsis:
What’s making Mayumi anxious on her best friend’s birthday party?

Is it her long time best friend Marie? Marie is now in college, and Mayumi starts to doubt their friendship as Marie meets new people and gets closer to them.

Or is it this basketball player named Micah? A guy she recently met and is making every girl fall for him---Mayumi included.

Tell us what is The First Time They Met about in 140 characters or less.
It's her BFF's birthday but Mayumi can't help feeling anxious, is it because of her BFF's new clique or because of cute ball player Micah?
Can you think of 3 songs that go perfectly with your book?
Minsan by Eraserheads
Best Day Of My Life by American Authors
One Thing by One Direction

What can readers expect upon reading The First Time They Met?
I hope that Micah is enough to give them the feels.

Apart from that, I also wish that the readers will have some takeaways. Insecurity is part of growing up (if not of life itself), I hope that the when the readers finish through this they will let go and allow greatness itself to run its course, you never know it might be the first day you meet greatness. :)

Part of Mina Esguerra's classes are the challenges that she posts, and for this BuqoYA, I was grouped into the 24 hour trope (like The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith , which I loved btw). I thought about what certain event can people meet other people, can stay up late, and and and I had experience with, and a birthday party is the one that checked all the boxes. It is somewhat personal, as the setting is an all too familiar place to me that was from a decade ago, and some of the teenage angst here of Mayumi and Micah's is my own even.

Book Review: SUMMER GIRL by A.S. Green

Publication Date: August 8, 2016
Genres: Entangled: Embrace, New Adult, Romance

Goodreads Synopsis:
A songwriter is nothing without his muse. Sucks that mine turns out to be Katherine D’Arcy––hot as hell, but the very definition of country-club living and everything I came to this quiet little island to escape. The last thing I need is some live life by her day-planner summer girl screwing with my head, but I can’t stop thinking about her…those curves, silky brown hair, and those eyes… I left that privileged world behind when I came up to Little Bear Island hoping for some inspiration to write my songs. But here I am still, two years later, unable to write crap. That is until Katherine showed up to tend the lighthouse for the summer and drive me crazy. With her here, the writing has never been better. If only there weren’t that one inconvenient truth I’ve been keeping from her… Because when she learns what I’ve been hiding, I know I will lose her forever.

Summer Girl is definitely the perfect summer read. It will make you want to go on a vacation. After reading, it made me want to explore Little Bear. I heard the author was inspired by Lake Superior.  I love how she was able to describe such scenery vividly!
Though the story started slow, but once you get to know the inhabitants of Little Bear including some furry friends (Lucy and Sam), you will love it! The beauty of the book is in its vivid description and well-detailed scenes. So if you are looking for a fast paced romance book, this is not for you. If you are a dog lover, and you want some sweet and sexy romance, you will find this interesting.

Told in altenarting POVs, you surely love Katherine and Bennet's love/ hate relationship. To be honest, in the beginning, I was torn because I was rooting for Andrew (Sorry, I'm a sucker for best friend romances!), but when certain twists and turns were revealed, I was glad on how the story turned out and was happily shipping Kate and Bennet.

Are you going on a holiday? Look no further! This book should be in your beach bag.
It will surely give you that warm fuzzy feels!

About A. S. GREEN:
A. S. Green lives in the cold upper Midwest with her husband and three children. She spends summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for Summer Girl, and she is a sucker for down-to-earth heroes who work with their hands (if they play guitar, that’s an added bonus). She enjoys all things Irish––particularly music, dancing, and Jameson. When she’s not writing or reading romance, she’s traveling, camping, blogging for Writer Unboxed, and writing YA (under her real name). Blog Tour: The Takedown Trilogy by Bianca Mori

Publication Date: August 21, 2016

About the Takedown Trilogy:
Follow the trail of one extraordinary woman with a special set of skills and a past both mysterious and painful in the Takedown Trilogy: a romantic suspense tale of thrilling twists and a whole lot of steam.
Watch the action as it jets from a lush tropical island in the midst of a tempest, springtime in Amsterdam, a sticky Barcelona sojourn to a final assault in a posh London neighborhood. Meet the cast of characters: a Frenchman bent on payback. The aristocrat with a score to settle. A distant father and demanding boss. The cop who needs her. And the equally mysterious, equally skilled man drawn to her against both their better judgments.

Tell us what The Takedown Trilogy is about in a length of a tweet.
Steamy romance-suspense heist trilogy set in Europe. Double-crosses, love triangles, secret identities and an ass-kicking heroine!
What made you write these books?
I like steamy romance and I like suspense -- so I thought why not write a heist story with a lot of steam and romance, combining my two favorite genres? So that's what I did. The thought had always been in the back of my head. I remember writing an early version of the interrogation scene in Peyton Riley maybe four years ago, because I really had this itch to write a bad-ass, amoral heroine. But it wasn't until I contributed to the Love's A Beach romance bundle that the story took shape and I finally had a home for this character to live in.

Can you think of 3 songs that go perfectly with your books?
- Stayin' Alive (BeeGees cover) by Capital Cities
- Damaged Goods by Gang of Four
- Gorilla by Bruno Mars

What can the readers expect from The Takedown Trilogy?
Readers who love the romance-suspense genre can expect lots of steam, a central thriller with the twists, turns, cliffhanger endings and sudden reveals, including the deep mystery surrounding the main character's past (which is revealed in Scorched Earth, book three.) Those who aren't familiar with the genre will find themselves a fun introduction with The Takedown Trilogy. All I can say is, if you like suspense movies but wish there was some female-POV steam in them (or a female heroine who isn't just there to decorate the hero's arms), then you might like this.
